Pen and ink, coloured chalks and graphite on paper 14 x 21.8 cm Framed under glass. Unsigned. Dated 'Mon Aug 2 09' in black pen and ink lower left. - An older replacement in upper left corner.

In every way the child in the man, Lyonel Feininger allows his enthusiasm for trains free rein in this wonderfully coloured pen and ink drawing. Young and old alike form a guard of honour for the steaming monstrosity thundering past, its airstream well and truly blowing about the gathered crowd. A small dog takes on the challenge and races with the historic train engine.
