Kampf (Kampf zwischen Mann und Leoparden)
Circa 1905

Bronze Height 23 cm. Mounted on brownish marbled stone base (15 x 15 x 7 cm) Signed 'A. Gaul' on the cast-with plinth on rear centre. One of presumably very few posthumous casts. - Fine dark brown patina. The base slightly bumped on lower corners and edges.

According to Gabler, 10 posthumous casts should have been produced as agreed in a meeting of the estate's board of trustees in November 1921. However, this agreement was revoked. As stated by Gabler, the present cast is from the estate sale of the art dealer Charles A. de Bourlet who had acquired a set of works from Cassirer comprising 12 bronze sculptures in 1926.
