Ophey's still life impresses through its austere simplicity. The composition appears cool, almost architectonic, and thus contrasts drammatically with the tremendous colour palette that manifests itself in almost monochrome planes. The artist radically deconstructs the perspective of the pictorial space in favour of a two-dimensionality that appears to be further increased by the minimal volumes of the depicted objects.
