Oil on heavy card 55.4 x 41 cm Framed. Monogrammed and dated 'H V 14' in black upper left. - Partially with handling marks, abrasions lower left. Professionally restored isolated, minor loss of colour.

In August 1913, Heinrich Vogeler was commissioned by the board of the Bürgerparkverein [Citizens Park Association] to create a wall design for the club room in the newly built park building. Today, the original wall design is lost, the iconographic program is merely known due to the recorded studies. The present painting is the last study of the series.The depicted figures are dressed in historical costumes. Our figure presumably relates to the moor coloniser Jürgen Christian Findorff who was employed at the Worpsweder Weyerberg in the 18th century (cf. Noltenius 161-170).
