A large Chinese Imari bowl. Kangxi-Periode (1662-1722), late 17th century
With slightly everted rim and decorated in underglaze-blue, green, yellow, aubergine and gold around the exterior with continuous sprays of large peonies and four large panels filled with flowering branches, the interior with further peonies. Around the rim a diaper-pattern border with four reserves filled with flowers and a scroll border around the foot. In the centre five fish, a shell and seaweed.
