The "Clementine" operated as a freight and passenger ship to North and South America as well as being used as a whaling ship. She sailed continuously for the J. F. W. Iken shipping company of Bremen. The "Clementine" was built in 1834 and decommissioned in 1850. The flags of the city of Bremen and of the Iken shipping company can clearly be seen in Fedeler's detailed depiction.
