A Berlin KPM porcelain plate with a view of the Kronprinzenpalais

Decorated to the centre with a view of Berlin in a gilt frame, bordered by a green meander pattern and gilt tendrils on yellow ground. Blue sceptre mark with red dash, green painter's mark, impressed no. 25, incised marks. A small, restored rim chip at 7 o'clock. D 25.2 cm.
Early 1820s.

This view was probably painted after a motif by the veduta painter Johann Wilhelm Brücke. It depicts the street "Unter den Linden" seen from the West, with Christian Daniel Rauch's 1822 monument to the Prussian general Gerhard Johann David von Scharnhorst on the left and the crown prince's and princess' palaces in the right foreground.
