The pieces came into possession of the royal house of Hannover through the marriage of Princess Thyra of Denmark to Ernst August, Crown Prince of Hannover and Duke of Cumberland in 1878. When his grandson Ernst August III married Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia in 1913, the candelabra were given to the couple as a wedding gift.
