A Berlin KPM porcelain dessert plate with an overturned basket of flowers

Model no. 674, decorated with a basket of flowers before a rose arbour. The pierced border picked out in gilt and interspersed with flowers in puce. Blue sceptre mark, impressed no. O3. D 25.2 cm.
1770 - 75.

Frederick II placed a cabinet order on 18th January 1770 for a "dinner service in neuglatt design, for 30 people, for Charlottenburg (...) painted to the centre with a basket of flowers, to the border with blue garlands. Gilt decor and edging". The service was dispatched on 6th August 1772. Researchers attribute this dessert plate to that order.
