An important enamelled snuff box with Silesian and Saxon towns

Gilt-copper mounted, of waisted rectangular form, can be opened above or below. Painted to all sides with a view of Auerbach in Saxony, of Breslau to the upper lid, and Schweidniz (modern day Swidnica) to the bottom lid. The insides of the lids painted with a lady reading the bible, opened to a page that reads "Im anfang war das wohrt und das wohrt ist fleis worden" and a winter scene with a lady in a muff. Minor rim chips, cracks. H 6 cm.
