An ormolu-mounted Neoclassical lacquer samowar

An egg-shaped lacquered tin urn on three curved lion's paw feet issuing from angel's head masks on a quatrefoil base. The border around the shoulders, the pinecone finial, the facetted spout and the burner of gilt bronze. Minor losses to the pigment of the base, otherwise cleaned and in very good condition. H 39.3 cm.
Brunswick or Berlin, ca. 1800, attributed to the Stobwasser Manufactory, the bronzes attributed to Werner & Mieth in Berlin.
