With canvas maker's stamp to the reverse: "Blanchet / Rue Bonaparte / 32 Paris"
Stanislaw Maksymilian Jasienski worked as a set painter for numerous Polish theatres. He trained in Munich, Berlin, Vienna, and Paris from 1879 to 1883. The fact that this work is painted on French canvas and displays signs of the influence of the Barbizon School and of Corot indicate that it was painted in Paris.
