The sketch shows a sitting dog, presumably a Siberian shepherd, whose slender, pointed head profile shows a certain similarity to the well-known fox depictions of the artist. The overall composition is approximated to a pyramidal triangle, which is given as an abstract background form. A second animal figure (sheep) gazing to the left appears intentionally inscribed onto the dog's body.
