A rare large boxwood netsuke of two fighting shishi. Late 18th century

The shishi on the ground, with mouth open and a fierce expression turns its head upward, as the other shishi victoriously steps on the rivals back, lowering its head with mouth firmly closed, the manes and tails of both shishi with spiralling curls.
