Gelatin silver print. 31.8 x 30.2 cm (40.2 x 30.2 cm). Signed, dated and titled in pencil, technical notes on the image in ballpoint pen as well as photographer's and copyright stamps on the verso. - Slight traces of usage. Matted.

Italian films of the 1960s stylistically influenced Mario Lasalandra's early photographs, in particular the works of Federico Fellini, and, like these, contain symbolic traits reminiscent of dream sequences deriving from his preoccupation with surrealism. The uncanny and at the same time poetic element of his series 'Spaventapasseri' (scarecrows) and 'Fantasmi' (ghosts) is also clearly evident in the enigmatic effect of the two works that are up for auction here.
