A Berlin KPM porcelain plate with the carriage of Prince Karl of Prussia

Model no. 1084. Decorated to the centre with the motif "Stanhope mit Tandem-Gespann bei einer Ausfahrt vom Brandenburger Tor in den Tiergarten" after Franz Krüger, with gilt tendrils to the border and spandrels. Blue sceptre mark, brown imperial eagle mark, blue dot, impressed 32, incised III. D 24.4 cm.
1823 - 32, after a motif by Franz Krüger.

Literature

For this motif cf. cat.: "preußisch korrekt berlinisch gewitzt". Der Maler Franz Krüger 1797 - 1857, Berlin 2007, no. 89, the watercolour is in possession of the SPSG, KS II 831. The motif was also published as a lithograph by Heinrich Müller. KPM also produced a series of dessert plates with portraits of the Prussian prince, a horse racing enthusiast, in his racing carriages (ibid. p. 142).
