A Berlin KPM porcelain plate with Italian dancers

Model no. 1113. Decorated with a pair of peasant dancers and a girl playing a tambourine against an Alpine panorama. Signed to the treestump "Fregeviz". Blue sceptre mark with blue dash, sepia coloured painter's mark, impressed no. 226, incised III, black owner's mark 336. D 24.2 cm.

Frédéric Frégevize (1770 - 1849) was a miniature painter from Geneva. He began his studies at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin in 1804 and was employed as a miniature painter at KPM in Berlin on 1st July 1809. He became a professor at the Prussian Academy of Arts in 1820.
