Two Berlin KPM porcelain beakers from the service for the Duke of Wellington

Unidentified model. Of conical krater form with high-set handles. Decorated with tendrils to the inner border and a moulded band to the outer. With a painted acanthus vine to the lower edge. Blue sceptre mark, incised 18. H ca. 7.5 cm.

Purchased in 2005 from Seidel und Sohn.

Literature

Wittwer (ed.), Raffinesse & Eleganz, Munich 2007, no. 132, describes the items as "Becher zu Gelée oder Gefrorenem" and assumes them to be part of the original earlier service which, save for these two pieces, is housed in Apsley House.
