Two Berlin KPM porcelain plaques with portraits of King Frederick William III and Queen Louise

Two round plaques with finely painted busts of the King and Queen in rectangular reserves.
The portrait of Frederick William III is after Johann Friedrich Bolt. The king is depicted with his head turned slightly to the right, dressed in uniform with the Blue sceptre mark, iron red painter's mark. In gilt metal moulded frames D 15.7 and 16 cm.
Circa 1815.

Queen Louise: Former Hildegard and Günter Rohloff collection, auctioned by. Christie´s London, 8th October 2002, lot 252.
King Frederick William III.: Purchased in 2003 from Ulrich Gronert.

Wittwer (ed.), Raffinesse & Eleganz, Munich 2007, no. 1. Samuel Wittwer regards the poppy seedheads as an indication that the Queen had already passed away when these pieces were made.
