A Berlin KPM porcelain plate with Jupiter and Io

Model no. 1113. The centre finely decorated with a scene based on a painting, inscribed "Jupiter et Io." Blue sceptre mark with black dash below, brown 19, impressed no. III, brown varnish owner's cypher B-C. D 24 cm.
1803 - 13, after a motif by Charles Monnet.

The border decor is often referred to as "Wiener Bordüre", and combines sumptuous gilt relief with finely painted imitation stone. This decor type may have been introduced by the painter Franz Osterspey who came to KPM from Vienna in 1797.
