Model no. 1113. Decorated to the centre with the Iron Cross. The border painted with a laurel wreath entwined by the band of the order and crowned by the comital arms. Blue sceptre mark, brown painter's mark, impressed 16, incised III. D 23.9 cm.
1815 - 17.

King Friedrich Wilhelm III raised Johann David Ludwig Graf Yorck von Wartenburg (1759 - 1830) to the rank of Count in March 1814 in honour of his extraordinary service during the war against Napoleon, awarding him the title “von Wartenburg” and the large Iron Cross. This service was commissioned at the same time as those for the Prince of Hesse-Homburg, the Count of Tauentzien, and Count Kleist von Nollendorf on 5th October 1815. The Prussian War Minister Leopold Hermann von Boyen placed the order with manufactory director Friedrich Philipp Rosenberg at royal behest. Each of the services should be “of such a quality as to express the highest respect for the Princes and Generals awarded in a suitable manner...” followed by detailed descriptions of how the porcelain was to be decorated. The extensive General's service for Count York was completed in October 1817 and sent to his residence in Klein-Öls.
