Hermann Gruson (1821-1895) was an industrialist, engineer, and inventor from Magdeburg who, among other things, succeeded in greatly increasing the strength of cast iron. He was also the owner of the largest collection of cacti in Europe, which he bequeathed to the city of Magdeburg upon his death.
