A Bohemian cut glass chalice with a portrait of Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm

Slightly waisted cuppa supported on a short shaft and flower shaped foot. The cut glass medallion with a bust of the Crown Prince facing left, possibly based on a design by Leonhard Posch. H 16 cm.

For more on the prototype by Posch cf.: Forschler-Tarrasch, Leonhard Posch, Berlin 2002, no. 88. With the Crown Prince in the uniform of the 1st Guard Regiment, the star of the Order of the Black Eagle, and the Iron Cross. The plaque by Posch also includes the Russian cross of St. George. The hairstyle and pose are almost identical. The chalice may have been produced in the year of Friedrich Wilhelm III's death, 1840, as a commemorative item.
