Unidentified model. Fired in two parts and screw-mounted with original bronze mountings. Richly decorated with finely etched arabesques on lustre ground, a flowerhead motif to the interior, and a border of stiff foliage to the inner rim. Blue sceptre mark, impressed o. H 12.5, D 27 cm.
Circa 1817 - 20.

The name of the English politician John Charles Herries (1778 - 1850) is included among those presented with dinner services in recognition of their activities during the German Campaign. It was thanks to Herries' intervention that the allies had access to the means to finally defeat the French forces.
