A large Berlin KPM porcelain platter from the 2nd Potsdam service

The spandrels with green ground, decorated with gilt rocaille and trellis pattern. With a central bouquet in the typical early polychromy. Blue sceptre mark, mass and impressed mark 3T. Minor wear to the thin glaze of the relief bars, localised wear to the gilding. Diameter 34.6, height 5.4 cm.
1767.

Frederick II ordered the 2nd Potsdam service for the Neue Palais in Potsdam and commissioned a further, identical service as a present for his brother-in-law Margrave Karl Alexander of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1736-1806).
In contrast to the 1st Potsdam service, the second so-called green table service was paid for from the royal treasury. The invoice for this payment provides us with a terminus ante quem which confirms the date of delivery following the production of the service to be 3rd July 1767. All pieces from this service had already left royal ownership by the time Georg Lenz's two volume work was published in 1913.
