A rare Berlin KPM porcelain coffee service in the Japanese taste

Model no. 2069. Comprising a quatrefoil tray, mocca pot and milk jug, sugar box, and cup and saucer. Richly decorated with tendrils. Blue sceptre mark, red imperial orb mark, gilder's and impressed marks. H of jug 18.3 cm, W tray 33.5 cm.
Modelled in 1856/58.

A further example without the sugar box in: Siemen (ed.), Impulse. Europäische Porzellanmanufakturen als Wegbereiter internationaler Lebenskultur, Hohenberg/Eger 1995, no. 256. Ibid. cites an entry from the model book: "Dieses Service wird mit einem äußerst dünnen Scherben gedreht, so daß ... die Kaffeekanne mit Deckel gut gebrannt 10 Lot (=166,6 g) wiegt..." (p. I-351).
A tea service in the Japanese taste in cat.: Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin 1763 - 2013, Petersberg 2013, no. 29. The text mentions that Emperor Wilhelm II sent an identical tête à tête to his grandmother Queen Victoria as a Christmas and New Year's present, and this piece is now housed in Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.
