Both sides painted with putti dancing and making music in scalopped reserves amid foliate relief decor and enamel cabochons. Signed M.S. The enamel ground slightly bubbled. H without stopper 7.5 cm. Brass mountings.
Circa 1900, decor by Max Schröder.

Max Schröder entered the manufactory in Berlin as a painter in October 1885, where he is thought to have remained until the outbreak of WWI in 1914. Many models are attributed to him, as are several pieces painted in the complex pâte-sur-pâte technique. Alongside Hermann Thiele, Friedrich Hermann Heinrich Monno, Max Henklein, and Edmund W. Dietrich, Schröder was among the most talented artists working in this medium at KPM.
