Two Berlin KPM porcelain dishes for Count Podewils

With scalopped rim and moulded shells after Meissen's design for Prince-Elector Clemens August of Cologne. Decorated with "indianische blumen" and the Count's arms. Blue sceptre mark, impressed 23. With minor wear. D 24.5 cm.
Circa 1775.

Heinrich von Podewils (1695 - 1760) received an extensive Meissen service in his function as Prussian ambassador to Saxony from 1740/41. Subsequent orders for this service were produced in both Meissen and Berlin after the count's death.
