A Sèvres porcelain plate "Maison Valentin à Clisson"

"Assiette plate" model. Finely painted with figures by an overgrown classical edifice and ruins. The spandrels with arabesques en grisaille. Bordered by a platinum spiral band. Labelled in purple to the reverse "Pl. 27. Vue d´une partie des Terrasses et du Belvedère de la maison valentin à Clisson." Blue stamped double-L monogram mark with fleur de lys and illegible year number, "17. I.er 18." in green, "h. 21. A.t 18." in gold, incised marks. D 23.7 cm.
1818.

This plate is thought to originate from a series of 24 plates decorated by Le Bell after motifs by Thienon with the most celebrated views of the Vendée and the Château de Clisson. The plates were presented for the first time at the annual Sèvres manufactory exhibition in the Louvre in 1819.
