A Berlin KPM porcelain déjeuner with idealised Continental landscapes

Model no. 122. Comprising tea and coffee pots, cream jug and sugar box - all pieces with lids and flower finials - two cups and saucers and a tray. All pieces finely painted with pastoral scenes and depictions of the seasons in etched gilt frames with folitate swags, flowers, and wheat. Bordered by laurel wreath-twined gilt bands and finely painted with flying insects. Blue sceptre mark, various impressed marks. The tray restored. H coffee pot 17.5, W tray 41.5 cm.
Circa 1780.

One of the saucers depicts a landscape similar to that of Vienna seen from the north east looking south west.

Provenance

Very probably originating from the estate of John Alexander, 4th Marquess of Bath (1831 - 1896), Longleat, Wiltshire.
