A signed porcelain plaque with Venus and Cupid

Unusually thick and slightly rhomboid porcelain plaque with visible firing flaws to the reverse. The finely painted and atmospheric subject freely adapted from a painting by Lambert Sustris (presumably 1554) housed in the Louvre in Paris. Signed "G. Taubert" to the lower left. The reverse incised No 5 and "Gus. Taubert, pinxit 1806" in an ochre coloured trapezoid reserve. H 20.2, W 20.4 cm.
The porcelain attributed to Berlin KPM, painted by Gustav Friedrich Amalius Taubert, 1806.
