A Berlin KPM porcelain painting of Carl XV of Sweden

A half-length portrait of the young crown prince in uniform with parading troops and a view of Stockholm in the background. Impressed sceptre mark with K.P.M., impressed o, incised cursive B. H 25.6, W 19 cm.
Circa 1850, attributed to Gotthelf Rudof Asel after Friedrich Dürck.

Gotthelf Rudolf Asel died in 1851 when the Swedish crown prince Karl Ludvig Eugen Bernadotte was just 25 years old (1826 - 72).

Stockholms Auktionsverk, 31st May 2006, lot 1850.

Literature

A further, smaller plaque is kept in the collection of the National Museum in Stockholm (inv. no. NMGrh 2454) with the same portrait of the Prince against a river landscape with a palace in the background. The museum website mentions a painting by Friedrich Dürck (1809 - 84), grandson of the Bavarian court painter Joseph Stieler, who was well-known for his portraits in the Schönheitengalerie in Nymphenburg palace.
