A Berlin KPM porcelain plate with a floral wreath from the wedding service of Princess Louise

Model no. 1084. The border decorated with a wreath of tulip tree flowers and foliage. Inscribed to the reverse "Liriodendron Tulipifera". Gilt rim with a band of gold palmettes. Blue sceptre mark, brown imperial eagle mark, grey painter's mark, impressed 25, incised ,,,. D 24.2 cm.
1825.

Much of this extensive service, made on occasion of the marriage of Princess Louise of Prussia to Prince Frederick of the Netherlands on 21st May 1825, was auctioned in London in 1967. The service included 50 settings comprising soup bowls, plates for three courses, and a dessert plate. Twelve of the 50 dessert plates were decorated with cameo motifs, 22 with landscapes, and a further 16 with flowers and fruit.
