A Berlin KPM porcelain plate with the arms of Mecklenburg-Strelitz

"Antikglatt" model. The well decorated with a crowned coat-of-arms supported by a black bull and a golden griffon, surrounded by the chain of the Order of the Black Eagle. The golden bracket entiwined with oak leaves and strelitzia above a blue banderole that reads "THUE RECHT UND SCHEUE NIEMAND". Bordered by gilt stripes and a strelitzia wreath on lapis lazuli ground. Blue sceptre mark, red imperial orb mark, blue painter's mark, impressed 17, incised II. D 24 cm.

This soup bowl comes from the service made for Grand Duke Georg Friedrich von Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1799 - 1860), who was married to Marie Landgräfin von Hessen-Kassel. Georg Friedrich was the brother of Queen Marie Luise of Prusia. The strelitzia flower was named after Princess Charlotte Sophia von Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744 - 1818).
