Gouache and watercolour on paper. Copy after a portrait of Francois de Troy (1694). Full-figure depiction in an ermine-trimmed dress before a balustrade. In a giltwood frame. Moisture damage, minor losses of pigment and retouches. 15.5 x 12 cm. Frame 30.5 x 27. cm.
French school, 18th / 19th C.

As a granddaughter of the Grand Condé, the princess (Paris 1776 - 1753) belonged to the high aristocracy of France. She married Louis Auguste I de Bourbon, Duc du Maine, a son of Louis XIV. Louise Bénédicte was very well-read and invited numerous writers and artists to her court.
