A Russian painted porcelain plaque with a military scene

Rectangular plaque painted with a night time scene of Russian soldiers, possibly in Warsaw. Signed in Cyrillic "after the painting by Ladurner", "Student N. Semjonow 1840" and dated 1840. Minor chips to the edges. H 25.5, W 31.5 cm.

This may be a scene experienced or depicted by Adolph Ladurner during the November Uprising of 1830/31. Ladurner was travelling from Paris to St. Petersburg during that time and it is likely that he experienced the street fighting in Warsaw and the conflicts between the anti-Russian movement and the Tsarist troops. The painting upon which this porcelain plaque is based is not published.
