A Meissen porcelain group "the disarming of Cupid"

A large group depicting the Three Graces and a figure of Cupid as a little boy crying as one of the women takes his bow and arrows. The back of the plinth impressed E. ANDRESEN. Blue crossed swords mark with cancellation, black 20., incised model no. O 190, impressed 107. A firing crack visible from below concealed in the manufactory, minor restorations. H 35.5, W 34 cm.

This rare motif is based on a composition by Angelika Kauffmann for her 1777 Graces cycle which was in turn inspired by Matthew Prior's (1664 - 1721) poem "Love Disarmed".
