A lacquer container for sweetmeats. Late 19th century

In shape of a lacquer book shelf (shodana), the lower part imitating four sliding doors, the upper part functioning as a "lid" with four open shelves, decorated in maki-e, aogai inlays and with hirameji with waves and plovers. Wooden box, the lid inscribed Teasobi maki-e okashi-ki shodana-gata.
