An ivory netsuke of a dragon. 19th century

Winding itself around a ken sword with a vajra-type pommel. Chipped and Smoothed.
Length 5.6 cm

According to the "Ko-ji Hô-ten" this motif stands for 'Amakurikara' (an abbreviation for Amaryô no Kurikara ryô, the rain dragon winding around a sword blade) which refers just like Yin and Yang to the two key principles of life.
