A German marble wall fountain with a Gothic arch

Pale yellow tinted marble, presumably German. Two-part wall fountain with a jester mascaron spout flanked by barleytwist columns, two coats-of-arms above the crab motif of the arch. The four-sided basin with a moulded rim engraved with the date 1540 and a zoomorphic mascaron. Minor restorations, slight chips to the edges, especially to the rim of the basin. H ca. 87, W 45, D 33 cm.
