A rare mortar with a stork motif

Golden brown bronze with slightly mottled brown patina. Of tapering cylindrical form on moulded base, with flaring moulded rim. Decorated with six vertical bands of stars and a plaque with the foundry mark and a stork. H 9.4, D 13.6 cm.
Attributed to Southern Italy, 1st half 16th C.
