A French Baroque tortoiseshell coffer

Gold foil backed tortoiseshell, gilt and silver plated copper on wood, lined with marbled paper and red embossed leather, iron lock. Rectangular box with slightly domed lid. Veneered to the front with tortoiseshell, the camferred edges decorated with female portraits. Restored, the veneer with minor losses and defects. H 11.5, W 22.5, D 17 cm.
