A 15th century Flemish bronze relief of the Virgin and Child

Cast bronze, engraved, chased, and gilt. A charmingly tender pierced high relief half-figure depiction of the Virgin and Child with a slender crescent moon forming the lower border.
Minimal wear to the bronze and gilding. Height 6.8 cm.

Auctioned by Sotheby´s, London, 8.-9.7.1981, lot 369. - Hermann Baer art dealership, London 1981. - Subsequently in a private collection in Brussels.
