The composition of a folding of two coloured surfaces on a likewise coloured ground can often be found in Hermann Glöckner's plates and probably goes back to older sculptural designs. For the "Freundschaftstafel" the artist initially planned an edition of six copies, some of which he executed in contrasting colours. Glöckner donated them to artist friends such as Gerhard Altenbourg, but also to the catalogue author Werner Schmidt or to the significant collector Renate Glück. According to the catalogue raisonné, eight plates, some numbered, some unnumbered, have become known so far, which due to individual deviations can definitely be considered unique (cf.
