Circa 1946

Pencil, black India ink and presumably fibre or felt-tip pen (faded into reddish brown) on card 22.3/22.7 x 20.9 cm Framed under glass. Estate stamp verso with a confirmation in pencil by Siddi Heckel. - Evenly browned, the drawing partially faded.

According to Hans Geissler, the sketch is one of two variants that were created based on the related painting from 1946 (Vogt 1946/4, see also lot 239), presumably "preliminary studies for a planned print that was not executed after all". (Statement of the estate of Erich Heckel as of 14 Oct. 2019.)
