Verlag Ernst Arnold, Dresden, 1925 - The drawing with slight marginal defects on the right. The spine of the book cracked.- With accompanying cardboard slipcase. - Rare.
With the delicacy of the stroke and its fresh colours, the drawing of the Müggelsee with sailing boats conveys a charming summer scene. As is often the case, Kirchner dated it somewhat ahead of time; in the illustrative part of the publication itself, the work is dated at 1910.
The book contains 100 illustrations of works on paper by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner from 1903 to 1924. The woodcuts were printed from the original blocks. Rarely offered in the luxury edition, by the standards of the 1920s, the work is an extremely extensive publication of watercolours, drawings, sketches, and woodcuts by the expressionist.
