Plaster sculpture Height 36 cm. Mounted on oval-shaped copper plate plinth (14 x 23.5 cm) Monogrammed 'GK' (joined) on the back of the neck and inscribed "Hettner" in pencil in an unknown hand. - Superficial rubbing, the upper lip with inconspicuous loss of material.

Sabine Hettner was the daughter of Otto Hettner and Jeanne Thibert, born in 1907. Hettner was a painter and sculptor, and worked as a professor at the Dresden Art Academy. Otto Hettner was friends with Otto Dix, Oskar Kokoschka and Georg Kolbe, among others. Portraits of his daughter Sabine suggest this identification of the portrait bust. For most of her life, Sabine Hettner lived in Paris as a painter.
