Three Berlin KPM porcelain dinner plates from the second order of the dinner service for Berlin Palace

Model no. 189. Decorated with finely painted bouquets, insects, and gilt tendril borders. Blue sceptre mark, impressed mark 3 (two plates) and O (one plate), one illegible impressed mark. A small chip to the rim of one plate, minimal wear to the gilding. D ca. 24.9 cm.
1773.

The invoices in Friedrich II's royal coffers contain an entry from 23rd March 1773 listing the second order of a dinner service "painted with naturalistic flowers and insects alongside a gilt foliate border" intended for Berlin Palace.
