A Berlin KPM etagere with the Order of Henry the Lion

Unidentified model. Fired in two parts and screw-mounted. The dish with a beaded rim and foliate border, decorated to the centre with a border of ten facing lions supporting the coat-of-arms and alternating with a shield bearing the crowned monogram "W" for Duke William, and the device "IMMOTA FIDES" (unshakable loyalty). With the star of the order in blackened silver to the centre. Blue imperial eagle mark with KPM, red imperial orb mark. H 15.5, D 25.3 cm.
Ca. 1846.

According to credible family tradition, Duke Wilhelm von Braunschweig (1806 - 84) presented this opulently decorated dinner service for 24 persons to state minister Friedrich Schulz upon taking office in 1846. The service is presumably related to the award of the grand cross.
