Three Louis XVI Vernis Martin lacquer cases

18 kt Gelbgold, Holz/papier maché, Lack, polychrome Ölmalerei. Steckhülsen aus Schildpatt. 18k gold, wood/papier maché, lacquer, oil paint, tortoiseshell. 1) Two-piece vernis martin case with a depiction of a young mother based on the painting “Silence” by Jean Baptiste Greuze. The mountings with chased braided decor. H 9.5 cm. 2) Three-piece vernis martin case with scenes of children in the manner of Boucher on lacquer. Engraved mountings. H 14 cm. 3) Two-piece tortoiseshell case with floral gold piqué decor. Moulded mountings. H 12 cm. French stamp (the lacquer cases). Some minor craquelure to the lacquer and minor signs of wear. Französische Stempel (Lack-Etuis). The lacquer partly with craquelure and minimal wear.
